The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns. Forests are vital for biodiversity, providing a home to 80 percent of life on land. But with millions of hectares of forest lost every year, biodiversity is under threat. We need to care for our only home by caring for our forests. Join us in celebrating the International Day of Forests on 21 March.
