Create a Google Site

Use the following steps to create your web site (use the CLASSICS VIEW). Click on the link in the blue oval to watch a video demonstrating how to create.

Step 1: Create a New Site

Go to http://sites.google.com/ and sign in.
Start a blank site
In the upper left hand corner, click on site name. Name your site with "Your full name Portfolio"

Step 2: Choose a Theme

Adjust the theme of the site
1. In far right navigation panel, click Themes
2. Choose a theme you like, adjust fonts, select color, etc.

Step 3: Add a Header

In the header area, title “Welcome.” NOTE: If you use a them, you may have to add a header.
Optional: Add a header image

Step 4: Add an introduction

Add a layout (See Figure 1)
Add an introductory statement

Step 5: Add an image

Insert an image in the image content holder

Step 6: Change Share Settings

In order to share your website with people outside of Waubonsee, you will need to change your Share setting.

Click on the Share with others icon
Click on the Links panel to expand options
Click on the drop arrow in the Published Site area
Change settings to Public

Step 7: Add a footer

Point to the bottom of the page and click Add footer or Edit footer.
Enter your a copyright symble (Alt+0169; press and hold the Alt key while typing 0169 on your numeric keypad). and your name (i.e., ©Maureen Hogan)
When done, click anywhere else on the page.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.

Submission

Copy the URL by clicking the link icon in the toolbar (figure 2)
Click copy link
Share the link in course as directed by teacher
