Create a simple, classroom specific, curriculum resource page that incorporates digital media elements, using Google Docs
For curriculum integration to be effective, curriculum should drive the technologies used in the classroom. This means that, once you have the objectives of a lesson plan, you should use technologies to enhance the learning that will achieve those objectives.
A curriculum resource page is a teacher-created document that contains hyperlinks to teacher curated that assist teaching content-specific curriculum objectives. It can include:
Web links for additional information about a topic
Activities for students to complete at specific web sites
Many kinds of curriculum resource page exist. For example, a curriculum resource page can serve as a guide, assisting students in locating quality information on the Internet. Teachers can easily create curriculum resource pages using a variety of software programs and Web editors. You can use Microsoft Word or Google Docs to create interactive documents that can be shared and viewed online. Free web page creators like Google Sites, WordPress and Weebly pages that can be shared online, or use Google Sites to create a simple web page. Some popular Web 2.0 tools can include PBWorks or Wikiversity
Project-based and problem-based learning are teaching strategies that can help your students work independently to learn about a topic. Choose a project for your students to work on independently. Then develop a curriculum resource page that will help them to learn with resources and technology tools that you curate to help them learn.
After completing this assignment, students will be able to:
List the elements of a student resource page for project-based or problem-based learning
Create a document or web page for sharing with students
Your curriculum resource page will be guided by the essential question and the learning objectives. You will need to develop the following:
Two to three well-written objectives
The student technology project that will be used as an assessment for the objectives
Create a curriculum resource page similar to the one on page 407, the example below, or the samples in the sample folder. You may use any one of the tools that we explored in this class, or you can develop your resource page with a different tool of your choosing.
NOTE: If you use a development tool that does not have an example, review the rubric and below to make sure that you have all of the key elements that are required.
Each page should include the following:
Your name and the subject area and grade level
A title for the project/unit
An introduction to students that includes a project description
A focus question or essential question to help focus students attention
One or two ISBE state standards for the project
At least three annotated resources for your students to use
One additional resource must be an interactive web site to help students practice a concept
The integration of at least one (1) technology tool the students will use to complete their projects
A table that lists project at least three (3) due dates, lesson activities, etc. for the project
Open your Google Portfolio
Click on Pages
Click on the ellipse (3 dots) next to the teaching page
Create a subpage called "Curriculum Resource Page"
Briefly describe your experience with this project in 1-2 sentences.Use the following questions as a guideline:
What was the purpose of the project? Do you believe the project helped you to develop useful skills?
Did you enjoy developing the project? Why or why not?
If you did enjoy the project, what were one or two things you enjoyed about the development?
After you have written your reflection, insert your Curriculum Resource Page to your site page.
If you are using a file:
Upload the document file to Google Drive
Change the share settings on the document in your Google Drive
Add the file to your Google sites page
If you created a web site or used a tool that allows you to share the URL:
Add an image of your page
Add a hyperlink to the web site for your CRP
If required in your course, share your curriculum resource page in the appropriate discussion board.
NOTE: Make sure that you have reviewed the pages for viewability by logging out of your Google account in a different browser, then going to your portfolio and reviewing.
Your unit should also demonstrate that you understand what it means to integrate technology by including somewhere in the page how students will show what they know using technology.
Make sure you are having your students use a WEB BASED TOOL!
You can use any application or software that you want to design/develop this resource for your students
Use Microsoft Word or Google Docs to create a one page such as the one in your textbook in Chapter 7 (also shown below) on page 378
Create a webquest or project using Trackstar at 4teachers.org
Create a web site using Weebly to create a simple, one page curriculum page
Create a slide presentation using Google Slides, Prezi or Powerpoint
Use Sway to create something beautiful for your students
