The Autonomous Cab
The autonomous cab project is a cutting-edge initiative aimed at revolutionizing urban transport by harnessing the benefits of autonomous vehicle technology. The aim of our project is to develop an autonomous electric cab that offers an innovative, sustainable and efficient means of moving university staff around INSA’s campus.
This project stands out for its combination of cutting-edge technology, connectivity and shared mobility. The autonomous cab is equipped with advanced sensors, navigation and communication systems, enabling it to operate safely and autonomously on predefined routes. Thanks to these technologies, the vehicle can detect pedestrians, other vehicles and obstacles, while dynamically adapting to the changing city environment.
The project is part of a drive to reduce carbon footprints, by helping to reduce road congestion and improve air quality in urban areas. It also aims to improve accessibility to public transport, providing a flexible, environmentally-friendly mobility solution for city dwellers.
The car must offer an autonomous taxi service at INSA, to move between buildings.
The user can call the taxi, then choose his destination with his smartphone.
The car must locate itself in the campus with the GPS, and other sensors if necessary.
The car must avoid every obstacle without taking any risk.
The car must take in consideration the traffic laws and road signs.
The application must be able to conduct the user to the closest collection point.
