[1] First, the regions the most affected by forest fire are situated in the southwest of France. Between 1980-2017 on average 4,707 fires (equivalent to 24,702 ha) were counted in France. In 2018 there were 3,005 forest fires (equivalent to 5,124 ha of burned forest). Then weather conditions (temperatures, wind, drought etc..) have a high influence on the sensibility of vegetation and the moment when the fire begins. According to ONERC (National Observatory of Global Warming Effect) in 2040 climate deregulation will increase forest fires during summer periods.
To finish, fires have important consequences on natural spaces. For example :
Environmental: Destroying of biodiversity
Economical: Loss of wood value production, impact on tourism
Social: No hunting possible
Also, fires have a nocive impact on the quality of the air.
It is in this area that our project is focused, which is to detect forest fires as quickly as possible.
Indeed, we are working on a car which detects forest fires outbreaks. This car has to follow a predefined pathway. It carries a camera to film the environment. Thus, the video is analized by an artificial intelligence in real time to detect if there is a fire or not. If there is a fire, the car warns the brigade and near by citizens thanks to a website containing information about its location.
