Peter travelled about Israel to visit the Lord's people. While in Lydda, Tabitha/Dorcas, a discple in Joppa, died. Other disciples sent to Peter asking him to come. He did and raised her (Acts 9:32-43). He stayed for some time with Simon the Tanner.
While with Simon, Peter had his vision of a sheet containing all kinds of animals and the lesson that he was not to call anything impure that God had made clean. (Acts 10). He then received a delegation asking that he go to Caesarea to preach to Cornelius the centurion.
The traditional site of Simons' house where traditiona also ays that Tabitha was raised. Catholic tradition says that both were at the site of St Peter's Church.
