At the Volunteer Desk you can get your volunteers kit! This contains a tote bag with a shirt and your badge. Note: You need this before your first shift. Try to always wear your T-shirt and badge during your shift.
Additionally, at this desk we will need to check your ID-card or passport before the start of your first shift. So please bring ID-verification when collecting your volunteer kit (driving license is not sufficient)! Even if it was already checked during the application process, we will need to verify your ID-card, passport or residence permit. Unfortunately we can't accept invalid identification, so if you have any doubts about your documents, please email us!

If you already have a shift on Thursday morning 29 January or earlier, you can pick up your badge on Wednesday 28 January between 12:00 - 16:00 hr at the IFFR Office (Karel Doormanstraat 278B). If you can not collect your badge before Monday 3 February, please email the volunteer coordinators, so they can get you your badge at a different time.
The main festival venues will have their own volunteer room. Here, you will find everything you might need during your shift. We will provide coffee, tea and a fridge with cold beverages, as well as sandwiches for lunch/dinner and some fruit and nibbles. There is a refrigerator, tosti machine and a microwave, in case you want to bring your own lunch and in most cases there will be lockers to store your personal belongings.
Furthermore, this is where you can find your coordinator, check your schedule, read the Doorman, and connect to other volunteers during your break.
We like you to feel at home, but please consider that it’s a shared space. So we kindly request you to clean up after yourself and let your coordinator know if the room is running low on any supplies. And don't hang around too long when your shift is finished and other people are working.
Green Team!
We have a green team policy that decided that we can no longer use paper or plastic cups. Please bring your own cup or bottle when working as a volunteer, so you can enjoy your coffee, tea, water or soda.
You’re expected to be ready at the starting time of your shift, so make sure you’re on time. When you arrive at the location you can drop your stuff at the designated spot (volunteers space) and get yourself something to drink. Most locations have volunteer space with lockers for valuable items. You can find details on entering the locations in the contact list. When you experience issues, call the number attached in the contact list.
Tasks during the shifts are discussed in the kick-off meeting, training or described in a manual. If you have questions about what to do before the festival starts you can email the volunteer coordinators at Volunteers@IFFR.com. When you have questions when you arrive at a location the location manager, assistant location manager or subcoordinator can help you with any questions. In the contact list you can find the right numbers to call for questions.
Make sure to be visible to guests of the festival by wearing the shirt and badge. Be nice and helpful when people have questions, and if you don’t know the answers refer them to the (assistant) location manager, subcoordinator, information desk or the online help system on the website. If the guests are not being nice toward you or a colleague of IFFR, make sure to note it and tell the Location Manager as soon as possible.
Badge
Your badge is your entrance to the festival! On your badge is your picture, name, role and a QR code that is linked to your account. Through your IFFR account you can order film tickets and you get a certain amount for free depending on the type of badge you have.
Types of badges:
Volunteer Between 5 and 7 shifts in total. 6 free film tickets.

several tickets cannot be booked at the same time;
always cancel your free ticket if you are not going to use it (a minimum of 1 hour in advance);
you can get 1 ticket per screening;
always have your badge on you in order to enter the screening;
tickets are loaded on your badge (read how to get your badge on the page Volunteers Kit & Desk).

Attention Tiger Members!
Tickets bought and paid for with a Tiger Member account, will be uploaded to your Tiger Member badge. So if you are a volunteer, but are also buying tickets as a Tiger Member, do bring the right badge along or bring both just to be sure.
For information on the amount of free tickets you receive as a volunteer, please refer to 'Shift & Badges' above.
If you are unable to attend a screening, please cancel your tickets online. Complimentary volunteer tickets can be cancelled in your online IFFR account by clicking the “Give Back” button. Paid for tickets cannot be returned.
If you have trouble ordering tickets or if anything is unclear, it’s best to contact the Customer Service by navigating to the little chatbox icon on the right-hand bottom corner of the IFFR website. Attaching screenshots in your message will help our colleagues a lot!
