Family Prayer

Prayer at meals and before bed are natural times for us to give thanks to God. It's also a wonderful daily habit to pray together as a family, gathered around a prayer table.

Set a time for family prayer
Since we’re already adjusting our schedules, this is a good time to make prayer and scripture reading part of your family routine. Set a time each day to pray and read the Bible together and stick with it—even if it’s very brief! Perhaps before beginning schoolwork would be a good time.

Create a place for prayer
It helps to have a place in your home set aside for prayer and Bible reading. This could be in your child’s room or at the dining room table. You can make a simple prayer table with a low bench or a box; or you might use a shelf that is accessible to the child. Include things like a candle, a Bible, a plant or flowers, a statue or icon, and a cross.

The order of prayer
Prayer time can be quite simple, though older children like to add details like responses to the readings. While your children will likely lead you, here are the usual parts of prayer:

arranging the prayer table
choosing which prayer cards, readings, and songs to use
lighting the candles
making the sign of the cross
singing a song
reading from the Bible
silent meditation or a reflection
reading or reciting known prayers
offering prayers from the heart
ending in song
the sign of the cross
extinguishing the candles
restoring the material

Oración en Familia

Establezca un horario para orar todos los días, ya que estamos ajustando nuestros horarios, este es un buen momento para hacer que la oración y la lectura de las escrituras formen parte de su rutina familiar.
