This week is checked the size for the player in Unity vs Maya so the artists have a reference when modeling starts. I also made 3 rough reference models for street lamps, 2 for stoplights, and one for a fire escape so we can determine specifics of art direction. The art team as a whole discussed art direction for the game.
This week was more of the same for me personally. I continued to work on roughing out props so the art team can solidify a style. I reworked the fire escape from last week and make 3 possible air conditioner models and an elevator model. The goal of this week was to make things that could be attached to buildings.
This week, since we are procedurally generating buildings to help fill the city, I started making different variations of the dimensions I was given. I didn't make all this week, I got through the industrial, commercial, and residential square buildings, as well as about 9 different roof variations for the square and L foundations.
This week was more of the same, I changed the bases from last week so the windows could be added using textures, made the rest of the base designs and made roofs for them as well, so a lot of models
This week was another week of working on the procedurally generated buildings. I edited the buildings so they all have a standard bevel and the roofs fit the buildings correctly. On top of this, I UV'd all of the buildings and roofs so the buildings can all be easily textured then put everything in engine.
This week I UV the buildings again to fix some issues from before. After that I spent a majority of my time getting in rough textures for all 12 of the building models.
This week there was a few things to do. I threw a color on the roofs so they don't look out of place, I modeled a new crane and put a color on it for now as well (I have to re-UV so I can make a more detailed texture) and I started blocking out some big drop off platforms.
This week we changed the buildings, so I made facades and cubemaps for the 3 types of buildings to go into the shader.
This week I worked on the crane again and added some color variations and textures to the roof. I also started placing reflection probes and a few lights.
For the final week I fixed the cranes more so they could stick out more and adjusted the roofs so they fit properly on the buildings. Finally I went through the map and placed lights to help highlight important parts of the game like pickup and drop off points.
