Content and Procedure
Stage 1: Discuss the term “healthy lifestyle” in class and ask the students to share their ideas/knowledge about eating well, sleeping, exercising. Write everything on the board. Ask students to write down a list of healthy habits that they do every day and a list of bad habits that they have.
Stage 2: Hand out the vocabulary and make sure the students understand the words. You can create your own vocabulary quizzes, games and fun activities to teach the words. When you are sure that the students are familiar with the words hand out the viewing questions. These viewing questions will be practice questions in present simple and should be answered before viewing the video. In this way, you can activate the students' prior knowledge to see what he knows. While viewing students will then listen actively and check their own answers.
Stage 3: Take the following quiz to learn about How well you eat? (Teachers: Please make your own copy) and then answer healthy habits (Teachers: Please make your own copy). After taking the quizzes your teacher will show you the results in a pie chart. Assignment: Create your own Google Form and find out the eating /exercise habits of your family and friends.

Stage 4: Learn all about Food Labels - Open the following Food Label Worksheet and answer the questions.
Assignment: Go home and choose three of your favourite foods. Read the labels and fill in the Google Form with the correct information. (Teachers: Please make your own copy)
Stage 5: Watch this short video clip.
Make a list of the healthy habits that you see in the video.
Make a list of the bad habits that you see in the video.
Create your own weekly planner. See example.
Choose one habit that you want to adopt now. Write three reasons why it is important for you to start doing this habit.
Stage 6: Students should learn relevant vocabulary from Band 2, in particular, so that they can understand the relevant texts/articles and can discuss and share their ideas. Go to the vocabulary section and learn them.
Stage 7: Remember that Google form that you learned about earlier? Now we are going to look at the results of your own Google form and create a pie chart. What have you learned about your family and friends? Write down your conclusions. For example, you may write, "My mum exercises once a week." "My brother eats too much pizza."
Stage 8: Go to the following PADLET Link. (Teachers: Please make your own copy)
Choose a sport or physical activity that you like to do.
1. Add a picture.
2. Write a sentence about your activity.
3. Add a link to more information.
4. Choose a song you listen to while exercising.
Stage 9: The happiest songs - creating a workout playlist. You must let your teacher know what song your are adding to the document before you upload it.

When we work in teams we need to let each other know what is going on. In this exercise, you will go into the Google Doc and follow the instructions.
Add the name of the song that you chose in the Padlet exercise.
Add the name of the singer.
Add the link to the video.
When you have finished - Go back into the Doc and VOTE on your best two songs. When everyone has voted the teacher will then choose the song (if it is appropriate) to teach the class. Enjoy!

Stage 9: The Exercise information list (alternative assignment) (Teachers: Please make your own copy)

Add the rules for that exercise.
Add the link to the video.
When you have finished - Go back into the Doc and VOTE on the exercise that you love the best. When everyone has voted the teacher will then choose the exercise that you can do with the sports teacher.

Stage 11: Reading Comprehension
Read the article about How To Help Our Body Clock from Live Worksheets. Answer and share the questions with the teacher. (This activity was adapted from Module A Bagrut, summer 2018).
Fill in the conversation about Exercise from LiveWorksheets with the correct words. Send it to your teacher. When you have finished take a screenshot of the page and then record the complete dialogues with a partner.

Stage 12: Email Writing
Divide your class into teams of 3-4 students. Ask them to think about ways to design a healthy eating plan or a good exercise routine.
Ask the students to create an account for the team.

Write an email to your local gym asking for details about a membership. Ask how much it costs, if it is monthly or yearly and when the lessons are. In addition, ask what else is available at the gym.
Write an email to the mayor asking if there are any free sports activities for kids in your town.
Write an email to the local supermarket asking what they do with old food. Tell them that you want to use the food for [tell them what for].
Stage 13: Interview
Use your smartphone recorder or download Voice Recorder from the Store to interview different people from your school, community center asking them about their exercise habits, when they exercise and what they do.
Possible questions could be:
How often do you exercise a week?
What types of exercise do you do?
When did you begin?
Would you recommend this form of exercise to someone else? Why?
Stage 14: Podcasts
Podcasts are a wonderful alternative to speaking in front of a crowd. Here is a mini-podcast project. The student will build their self-confidence by expressing themselves in English in a way that is relevant to them in the digital age where everyone has an opinion about something!
Each team creates a video on any health or exercise issue. This podcast will be sent to family and friends. Alternatively, students can create their own YouTube channel to present the material in video form.
Steps for Recording:
identify ideas related to the assignment topic.
outline the contents of the recording. This could be a mind map or flowchart.
develop a script to use as a guide while recording.
rehearse the script several times to facilitate recordings.
think about sound effects.
record the video in one take if possible.
Stage 15: FINAL ASSIGNMENT AND PRODUCT #1
Class Healthy Recipe Book:
We all love those special recipes that our mum or grandma have made for us all our lives. But sometimes it comes as a shock just how many calories are in that meal. For example, many people cook with lots of oil.
In this final project you will do the following:
Collect a beloved family recipe.
Analyze the ingredients into carbs, fats and proteins.
Think about what ingredients you can use as a substitute for their higher calorie versions.
Re-write your recipe stating and explaining your food swaps, and compare it to the original recipe.
Print out the new recipe for your Class Healthy Recipe Book.

My Personal Exercise Plan
Do you do any exercise? Do you exercise but feel that you are not improving? Are you as strong as you would like to be?
In this final project you will do the following after learning a little anatomy and physiology and also learning about kinesiology (muscles and movement):
Decide which muscles you would like to strengthen.
Open up a new Google Calendar (or any other calendar that you like)/ or Excel Sheet and build an exercise program based on good information.

Create a document with all the information for your new exercise program (Google Calendar/Excel).
create a poster detailing your new exercise routine.
create a podcast discussing the issue with a partner.
