Screencastify

Screencastify is a screen recording tool that can be used to create videos for different purposes of your computer screen and webcam.

The purpose of using Screencastify in the Hi-Tech classroom is to enhance the student’s learning experience and understanding of a certain topic, while recording themselves in a creative way, and then sharing it with teachers and classmates.

To get started with Screencastify, you need to follow the following steps:

Install the “Screencastify extension” from the Chrome Web Store and add it to Chrome

Create an account (if required)

Grant permission to use your microphone and camera (if required)

To record/edit/share with Screencastify, follow these steps:

Click on the Screencastify extension in your Chrome browser and follow instructions.
Select the recording options, such as screen, webcam, or both.
Click on the record button to start recording.
When you're done, click on the stop button to end the recording

you can edit it by using the Screencastify editor which allows you to trim the video, add text and annotations, and adjust the audio and video settings.
After editing your video, you can share it with others by uploading it to Moodel, YouTube or Google Drive, or by sharing the link with others.

Some tips for using Screencastify:

Plan your video beforehand
Use a quiet and well-lit room
Speak clearly and slowly
Use a script or outline to keep your video on track
Practice your presentation before recording

After learning how to use PowerPoint and the build-in Recording for the PowerPoint presentation, it’s time to create and record your slides.

Assignment:

Part 1:

Creat PowerPoint Presentation

Create a PowerPoint about any of the following topics (you might choose yours )

Introduce ChatGPT to your classmates telling them what it is and how it works
Discuss the ethical side of using ChatGPT for assignments
Reflect how ChatGPT will affect students
Explain how ChatGPT will improve your language learning

Write up to 4 slides about the topic as follows:

Slide 1: what is ChatGPT in your opinion

Slide 2: List some advantages/disadvantage of ChatGPT

Slide 3: Focus on the topic you will talk about (You can choose from the topics above)

Slide 4: What can ChatGPT do in the future (connect it to your selected topic)

Task 2:

Recording in PowerPoint

Follow the previous instructions and record your voice on the slides to explain the content of your PowerPoint presentation.
Click on “Add submission” to upload the PowerPoint presentation with the records on Moodle so that your teacher could grade it.
