"Counterparts" is the general term used for two versions of an entity originating from different dimensions. Counterparts have only really been shown in-series through "Rotssephi"'s brief appearance in Episode 7 as well as Sho Minazuki in the Dead Rat Special and the California Girls, but they get a little bit of discussion in Episode 12 and 13.
Theoretically, there are infinite amounts of counterparts of a single entity. In the context of hhgregg, only two are really ever implied at most with the only exception thus far being the California Girls, who are all counterparts of Aigis. Though, those counterparts are more Created rather than teleported in or something. Counterparts can either be pretty similar or wildly different, though none are exactly the same seeing as their environments are different. Sho Minazuki and Sho Pronouns are generally similar in demeanor and appearance; however, Sho Minazuki is a lot more "toned down" and less violent than Pronouns. All of the California Girls are very different from Aigis and, more or less, each other.
Not everyone has a counterpart in HHgregg. Rather, counterparts are generated into HHgregg either at random or created by Hhgregg. They're generated usually in groups and contained into a sub-dimension, such as the majority of the Persona 4 cast (e.g. Yosuke) and Inaba for a bit of time. Sometimes these people never really figure out the whole being in HHgregg thing, but most do and end up wandering around more outside of their source sub-dimension.
When someone is teleported into HHgregg while a counterpart of themselves is already there, one of three things can happen. One, both the person and the HHgregg counterpart remain in existance. There's no sort of paradox if the two ever come to meet it's probably just weird. The other two chances are that the HHgregg counterpart is wiped, with the differences between the two being whether or not previous memories involving the counterpart remain or not. More often than not, if someone's teleported it ends up being the counterpart is wiped but memories remain. Sometimes, someone like the Gregg can influence that and choose whether or not the counterpart's wiped or if they stay.
