Standard 9 - Professionalism, Leadership, and Advocacy – The competent teacher is an ethical and reflective practitioner who exhibits professionalism; provides leadership in the learning community; and advocates for students, parents or guardians, and the profession.
9P) uses leadership skills that contribute to individual and collegial growth and development, school improvement, and the advancement of knowledge in the teaching profession.
Professional development connects to standard 9P by contributing to a schools department meeting in order to address the development and knowledge within our field. These professional development days give me the opportunity to grow as an instructor and gives me great ideas to implement into my instruction.
9L) communicates with families, responds to concerns, and contributes to enhanced family participation in student education.
The parent was concerned with with the students attendance because it was starting to affect his grades, so we set a meeting to established a plan to help get the student back on track and also ways to prevent the student from side tracking again.
