WHMIS is a certification focused on handling and managing substances of all types, learning how to identify them in the workplace, managing toxic substances and dealing with them.
This is a SHSM requirement for all SHSM students
This highly respected course covers the basics and some advanced parts of First Aid and CPR, as well as more in-depth topics like dealing with specific problems like different types of injuries, bites/stings/injections, diseases like diabetes, angina , allergies and asthma, drug overdoses, and more.

Though this course is very extensive, dealing with many topics from basic first aid to CPR, to wound management, to helping those who are suffering from bites, stings, allergies, asthma attacks, concussions, diabetes and drug overdoses, it is also very user-unfriendly.
It has 280+ pages of text, fairly little imagery, and no videos. So beware. It should take about 4 hours of continuous solid effort, but I recommend splitting it up into smaller chunks of 30-45 mins a day.
This organization offers some cool general-purpose sector certifications that count for basically any SHSM program regardless of sector. Skills For All is an initiative run by the prestigious tech company Cisco Systems (these guys basically invented the modern router, internet and the word IOS), that allows people of all ages to learn skills in the tech sector for free, like Cybersecurity, Network Defense, Data Science, Python, and more!
Udemy is a site where you can self learn all sorts of cool topics like programming, art, business skills, and more! The courses are at a decent price usually, and are discounted, often to less than $20CAD for courses several hours long and packed with content. You often will get a Udemy certificate from the course once you complete it, and depending on the reputation of the course and course author, the Udemy certificate may be a good addition to your resumé.
