WHAT IS A MYSTIC TRAIT AND HOW DO I GET THEM?
Pokemon who fall under this category have a range of otherworldly attributes that are strange even to the pokemon world... Multiform, Color-Changing, and RGB-ified.
These edits are up to staff discretion to add onto or change as we iron out issues with the traits. More mystic traits may be added on in the future as deemed necessary. Currently, the only way to get Mystic Traits is through the use of a Mystic Gem or breeding in the Daycare.
Mystic Gems can be added to an unapproved OR already-approved pokemon design to give it Mystic Traits. Mystic traits are allowed to stack on top of eachother. You can have a multiform pokemon with color changing designs AND a portion of the design is RGBified.
MYSTIC TRAIT ADDON RULES
These traits are incredibly flexible and may have many 'loopholes' that come up with them at times. Please ensure you are checking with staff in #design-check for prior approval of your design concept to make sure we do not need you to make changes.
If you are adding on mystic edits to a pokemon that has an already approved reference, our 'Redesign' rules apply to making a new reference for mystic traits as well. See the bottom of the MYO Guide for more info. on our redesign rules and what is needed for approval.
⚠️IMPORTANT: When applying a mystic gem, IF the user has previously approved evolutions/pre-evolutions for the pokemon in question receiving the mystic gem addon, the user can do one of the following:
Keeping the preevo/evolution references for your pokemon WITHOUT the old references canonly having the mystic gem edit on that form. (References show all art pieces being kept for the pokemon, including evolutions and the new mystic trait reference.)
OR
Remove the old references all together and move them into a ‘old designs’ tab for the pokemon in question. Then redo the evolutions etc. at a later date. (This will require you to go through the evolution processes again if you choose to do so and all 'old' references that are now in the 'old designs' tab cannot be used.)
Multiform is the most common type of Mystic Trait that you will see users adding on to a pokemon. This allows a pokemon to have up to EIGHT 'alternate' forms. (This does NOT include evolutions)
Each form you add on requires x1 Gem PER form (Maximum of 8 forms. IE: base character + 7 other forms for the character. 8 total.)
These alternate forms can either be actual species changes, or something as simple as 'toggling' optional traits like extra wings, tails, eyes, etc.
Multiform Examples
These alternate forms are added to a pokemons masterlist as a 'new' reference and can be used for anything Heartcatch related as long as it is approved.
These forms CAN be:
Other pokemon
Humanoid/Human
Optional Edits (IE: optional wings on a reference)
AND Objects/Other Creatures (up to staff discretion)
These forms CANNOT be:
Actual Canon characters from other media (IE: Turning into Sonic)
Banned media from HC
⚠️ IMPORTANT: IF you are adding an additional ‘pokemon’ form to your pokemon, You must have that pokemon in your pokedex already to add it with a Mystic Gem. IF you are using a mystic gem to give your pokemon an alternate Legendary Pokemon form, they will get used up from your pokedex as if you made a MYO with them. Please note alternative forms Typing when posting for approval of the pokemon!
IF you are using multiform to give your pokemon a form that looks nothing like its previous designs (IE: A different pokemon species all together) you must keep the color palette + design as close to the original pokemon as possible. If you wish to give your pokemon a different design and color palette on this alternate form, 'color changing' mystic is required and another mystic gem is needed.
MULTIFORM WITH FUSIONS:
A DNA splicer addon if required if you wish to make a singular pokemon have an alternate form that is a fusion. (IE: an Eevee with an alternate form of a Eevee x Garchomp). Please note in the 'other' section of your form that you are using a DNA splicer as an addon for the form.
Alternate forms follow all other related rules when adding on DNA splicers for the amount of pokemon that can be present in a fusion.
You only need to use one DNA splicer to add a fusion to an alternate form. If you decide to add more fusion alternate forms to the pokemon, later, you will not need to use more DNA splicers. (IE: using another mystic gem to add an Eevee x Garados form to the Eevee who already has an Eevee x Garchomp form)
This trait allows you to give your pokemon Up to TEN alternate color palettes/designs. These color palettes can be simple alternate hue-shifts of the design OR completely changing the pokemon's design each time.
ALL of the edits on the pokemon must stay the same. If you wish to change the form of the pokemon alongside the colors changing, you must also add Multiform onto the pokemon.
x1 Gem PER color variation (Maximum 10 full color variants INCLUDING the original variant. IE: Base variant + 9 others. 10 total)
** Color-changing is NOT the same as RGBified.
Color-Changing Examples
RGBified is the least common/used mystic trait, however, it has a very flexible use-case! This trait allows you to have an Unlimited amount of color variations for a specific portion of your pokemons design!
This trait is seen in the canon pokemon universe through Arceus and Silvally's color changing abilities based on the typing it is using.
x1 Gem only (Part of pokemon can be any color, however there should be some aspect of the original palette color that stays the same.)
RGB Example
** This trait is NOT the same as Color-Changing.
RGB-ifying can allow you to have your pokemon be animated like the rainbow OR you can give optional color palettes on their references by adding swatches that show the pokemon’s design in the area it’s allowed to be! (IE: showing alternate palettes to note that the pokemon's eye color changes based on mood)
Aspects of this pokemons design past the affected RGB area cannot change. This trait is used for picking an aspect of a pokemons design (IE: Their eye color) and allowing it to be literally any color on the rainbow (or whatever you choose). IF you wish to add optional design aspects onto a pokemon (IE: optional face marking designs), that would be considering color-changing!
** IMPORTANT: All pokemon references with this edit should note somewhere that they can be “any color” in the affected areas. You can show the any color effect by animating your reference OR adding swatches. PLEASE make sure your file sizes aren’t too large otherwise we cannot upload them onto TH! If your file is too large, we may request an alternate version of the reference to upload that is un-animated & then link the animated version of the reference from imgur in the image notes.
This section is dedicated to trait additions that we have allowed on pokemon that do not otherwise have said traits and the original user did not want their pokemon to be type-swapped to obtain these traits.
These are very case-by-case, however, is most seen when wanting otherwise uncommon attributes to a normal pokemon like tailmouths, extra heads/body parts without fusion, etc. without making them type-swaps.
Traits that get added in through the application of our 'special-use' clause, may eventually be made into an official option with Mystic Gems if enough users apply the trait to their pokemon in this way.
Special-Use Case traits are not recognized as an 'official' subsection to Mystic Traits, so they are not able to be rolled-for in breedings unlike the other 3.
