1. To extend knowledge of the built environment at its basic unit, form and function.

In group, we were to choose 2 existing public spaces globally that has been intervened in adapting the pandemic situation. You are to conduct a case studies and investigate the intervention of public spaces to understand more about the tangible and intangible elements or components in public space on top of lecture delivered in class.
The data collected from the case study shall be layed out in one infographic canva poster of an A2 size landscape layout.
Were were then tasked to redesign an area of Taylor's campus so that is can fulfill students/staff’s daily needs, and work directly with the communities most affected by the virus and its economic fallout. In a group, you will need to construct ideas on how to improve/ upgrade/ enhance/ revamp the existing public space (area of focus shall be given) using the understanding of built components/elements in built environment.
The project will actually be divided into two parts:
Part A - The Case Study on 2 Public Places
Part B - Taylors Campus Intervention

Week 1
The first week, like many other first weeks of a project, was relaxed and focused solely on the base of our work. The first thing we did was to set up a Zoom meeting and select which site we would use for our Case Study. In the end after considering our limited options and the advantage and disadvantages of public spaces that caught our eye, we chose Domino Park in Brooklyn, New York a bright and unique area which is a combination of multiple public facilities, integrated into an old factory and Salatiga Market in Java Indonesia.
Week 2
It was during this week where we delegated the work. After a discord meeting we eventually came into the conclusion that the boys would work on Dominic Park and the girls would focus on Salatiga Market.
Week 4
We compiled our work and information into the Canva page as well as added extra information deemed fitting. Design features such as background change and slight tweaks were also made to make our page more aesthetically pleasing!
Week 5
Our lecturers gave us some valuable feedback mainly related back to the brief instructions, about public space. We were supposed to give a case study on the public space of Perth Cultural Centre, but we lacked much quality information on the matter since we slowly derived from the topic, covering the buildings and other features around the public space. This week was sought to correct our mistakes.
Week 7
We were given our final piece of feedback relating to the Public Space Intervention. After the feedback we added much more information. A few comments related to our composition of the page was fixed as well as making the introduction more brief and straight to the point.
Thanks to this project I have gained Taylor's Communication Skills as I have communicated appropriately in various settings and modes. This is evident through my Zoom calls with my group mates as I responded and spoke according to to the situation.
The next skill I have obtained is Taylor's Digital Literacy. This is because I have effectively used information and communication technologies such as Zoom for scheduled group call and meetings. Whatsapp was used for chatting andas our main medium for communication. We also used related technologies such as Canva to create and display our learning and work, Google Document for our notes and storage of information, and the trustworthy google where we could find information and images about our topic.
