Week 1
During the first week we were given the topic of the tropical rainforest. We had many ideas relating to this topic and created a google document where we planned the base of our video and stored our research. We discussed a few of our ideas in a zoom call.
Week 2
In the second week we just proceeded in continuing our research.
Week 4
It was around this week that we created a new document in order to improve our organisation. It was also around this time when we realised that my research topic I was researching on was irrelevant to our project, much to my dismay. We also began discussing our script ideas in real life in Taylor's Campus, which would change overtime.
Week 5
We also met during this week in order to work together on the script. Since I had the highest proficiency of the english language in my group, I was assigned to type out the script. Jonathan, who had brilliant english skills would form the storyline and its structure ideas which we I would then write out. The other members also helped in forming the script and adding their own opinions and ideas.
Week 7
We met together again once more on our final week in order to finish things off. Han Ping our hardworking editor could be seen fiddling on his laptop, cutting and pasting clips of ourselves that we had filmed and compiling them together. Once he had finished the video, he sent it to me so I could add in subtitles. I found this part extremely frustrating as it was not as simple as it seemed. It took me some time finding a perfect application which I could run and use, finally deciding on the app Aegisub.
It was thanks to this project that helped me meet many interesting people and brought me closer to them. This experience has also undoubtedly helped taught me many things.
The first thing it has 'taught' me was team dynamics and the power teams. What I learned was that in a team, charisma is important. Even if you have great ideas that you want to share, or delegate, your group members will not listen to you or a hostile environment will occur (I'm not saying this happened to me specifically but it is the closest example I can think of). So if you want to be able to tell others about what you have in your mind and make them accept you as well as create a pleasant group environment, you have to do so in a manner which is 'charismatic', a lovable and attractable manner which could be passionate but not too eager or pushy.
Although during this project I never thought I was the main leader, I do believe that I assumed leadership at least once at some points. The first time this occurred was during the beginning of the project when I proposed my ideas of making our video format to be in a news report type of recording.
Therefore, I have achieved Taylor's Interpersonal Skill.
The next Taylorian skill which I have achieved is Taylor's Digital Literacy. I feel that this has been achieved because we were able to use multiple different apps and websites in order to efficiently accommodate to our needs. As a group we were able to use Zoom for our calls and meetings, besides our real life meetings, Whatsapp for chatting and discussions, Google Documents for storing our information, Light Works for our editing and Aegisub for the subtitles.
