Lab Space Design

Brief Project Summary:
This project originally started out to be a way to gain credit from my internship working for Boeing, though because the EECE program does not currently offer credit for internships, this was converted into a project implementing my knowledge of Industry through designing a new lab space. This is a unique opportunity that arose from the new STEM building being built on campus, as there are no current lab layouts planned in the new building. This provides the wonderful opportunity to evaluate the current curriculum for Industry compliance and to identify where gaps in our current education lie. My job will then be to complete a report on the gaps we have, where we can expand, what materials we will need according to our current curriculum, and what we would need to expand the curriculum. The end result of this will be to provide a functioning design not only for electronics lab stations, but also a basic floor plan for EECE teaching labs that could be implemented as the building nears completion.
This is an incredibly exciting project not only because I would be developing a plan for the new lab spaces, but also because I will be implementing my knowledge of Industry to design new work stations that need to be versatile enough to handle program expansion, but also directly impacting students learning in the years to come.
