Astronomy

Sighting Location: Northbound Freeway prior to intersection of East-West Freeway. Unknown object is yellow-orange moving eastbound at approximately 45 degrees with due North being defined as 0 degrees. Object left sight at x-axis of 48 degrees. Object at unknown altitiude. Object visible for 2.5 seconds. Observer slightly above sea-level, precise altitude determinable. Specific altitude omitted for anonymity. Weather was cloudy, cloud deck at mid-level. Object seen through cloud deck. No blinking of object observed. Object showed clear trajectory heading downward at approximately 19 degrees arc.

Update 2/8/2026: After revisiting the area, light was determined to be a street light. Sighting not maintained. I worked on the report, so I shall leave it up.

Time: Approximately 6 - 6:30 pm (18:00 - 18:30).

Pursued object, no sound heard to indicate impact. Pursuit non-fruitful. Can identify area explored on map. Precise route not identifiable. No air or pressure changes felt. No precise measurements used. There was a tingling sensation in left arm while heading due East in pursuit.

Background: Meteoroids and Asteroids are commonly not found (Thunderstones and Shooting Stars, T. Dodd). Oftentimes their journey through the atmosphere leaves very little left to be found. Reported findings have been pea or pebble sized. Lack of sound for impact indicates that this may have been the fate of such an object. There the option that this is a new type of aircraft, this has been determined as unlikely due to the appearance of the light. No blinking was observed of the light. No secondary lights were observed. Object was a bright yellow-orange. Light did leave after image through it's 2.5 second streak behavior.

Bias: Currently reading large number of books related to asteroids, meteoroids, and other such space phenomena. Current occupation: Electrical Engineer.

Secondary Sighting: Earlier in the evening, while heading due North a meteoroid was seen (as indicated by bright light heading downward at 15 degrees position along x-axis, upward altitude starting at 75 degrees in sky and ending at 60 degrees) falling just South of Massachusetts. Real location obscured to protect anonymity.
