BIG QUESTIONS FORMAT
Big Questions Debate is a debate format that allows students to debate with a partner or as an individual. Debates may be one-on-one, two-on-two, or two-on-one. Topics last all year and concern the intersection of science, philosophy, and religion. Students are assigned a side of the topic before each round and present cases, engage in rebuttal and refutation, and participate in a question period.
BIG QUESTIONS MEETINGS
We meet one a week onThursdays from 2:30 to 4:00 PM in room D220. If you are unable to come to the meetings but are interested in BQ, simply contact Chaithra or Meghana, your captains, and we will help you outside of meetings! Our contacts are on our websites so check them out!
At meetings, we will usually go over the technicalities of debate, the specific structure of the speeches, and in-round strategy; run a topic analysis; or go through practice rounds or drills before a tournament. Meetings are tailored to the needs of the team, so if you need to work on a specific skill, let us know!
We also do fun stuff at meetings such as team bonding activities, secret santa or white elephant (for winter season), and other games!
On your own, you have the responsibility of writing cases and responses, finding evidence, and learning more about the topic, but we're here to support you as much as you need! We are a team, and therefore a lot of the work you will find that you will do it alongside your teammates. Because of this, you'll find that overtime, the work becomes the most favorite part of being in debate.
Don't be stressed by the workload - we are all here to share our resources and research. We will make sure that success will be enjoyed by the team as a whole.
TOPIC FOR 25'-26' SEASON

Topic Analysis will be provided at our second meeting!
This topic does not change throughout the 25'-26' year, so we will prepare you to be the best and know everything regarding this big questions topic (you will dominate)!
