Two Events: Impromptu Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking
Impromptu Speaking has a 7 minute blanket period, where 2 minutes should be used for prepping and 5 minutes for actually speaking. Impromptu Speaking is more casual and personal. One must speak off of a quotation.
Extemporaneous Speaking has a 37 minute blanket period, where 30 minutes are used for prepping, and the remaining 7 minutes are used to deliver a memorized, prepared speech. Extemp is more formal and professional, and the topics are often questions about current events.
