STATION LEADER INFO

PLANNING

  • Each Yukon Town (activity) should take each team approximately 10 minutes to complete

  • Please let us know in advance if your activity station is only appropriate for our Senior Scouts - Bear, Webelos, and AOL,

  • If your town's activity station is open to all ages and involves scout skills, please come up with a plan so that both Junior Cubs and Senior Cubs can have a positive experience. It may be appropriate to teach a skill for a few minutes before trying to score; it may also be appropriate to score by how well Cub Scouts follow you through the EDGE method.

  • Plan for how you will score your station and then be consistent!

  • Each Yukon Town is responsible to provide its own gold nuggets to award to each team member who completes the activity at their town. Find some rocks, get a can of gold spray paint and paint the rocks before the day of the Yukon Trail.

SET-UP

  • Pack and troops should arrive to set up activity station at 9:30 AM or earlier. Please be completely set up so that you can participate in the Opening Ceremony at 10:30 AM

  • Units who need to bring trailer: with our move to the Beach Area, there should be plenty of room to park trailers. Please obey all parking rules and respect Fire Lanes.

  • Water is available from the open year-round restroom in the East Area.

  • Please bring your pack flag for the opening ceremony and to display at your activity station.

  • You are welcome to bring canopies, camp chairs, or additional tables for your activity station. There are picnic tables throughout the Beach Area and most can be moved.

  • Activity Stations are encouraged to have a Warming Fire if it is a cold winter day. This will cheer parents even more than scouts! There are elevated fire grills near every town station. You are also welcome to bring your own ELEVATED Fire Pit. please nothing that sits on the ground. We must practice LNT and not scorch the ground. As always, if you do make a fire, never leave it unattended and have water to extinguish.

  • Scouts from Troops who are offering Activity Stations: Please dress in Class A or Class B to show your troop colors or any costume appropriate for the Yukon Trail.

SCORING

  • Town Leaders should prepare in advance a scoring system and a score sheet and should have a method to record the score for each team. Suggested Materials: Clipboard, Scoresheets, multiple pens/pencils.

  • Scoring for Activity Stations can include:

    • Scout Spirit (Flag, Cheer, Do Your Best)

    • Teamwork & Communication (do all members of the team work together or communicate in a positive way?)

    • Scout General Knowledge (relevant to your activity station)

    • Time to Complete an Activity

    • Accuracy in Completing a Task

  • Town Leaders please complete the Yukon Trail Score Sheet for Awards and deliver to registration at the closing of the activities so that we can prepare the ribbons.

  • Town Leaders will be asked to announce the winners at the Closing Ceremony.
