Annandale Reformed Church (2 West Street, Annandale, NJ)
The Peace Light originates in the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem and has been kept burning there for more than 1000 years. We are excited to present a new and unique ceremony this Advent. Though the Peace Light is not able to be brought directly from Bethlehem this time, we will share the living flame that has been safeguarded by Keepers of the Light for the past year.
All are welcome to come to the Peace Light Ceremony and Distribution to receive the Peace Light for your troop, congregation, family, and friends. Scouts are encouraged to come in uniform.
Scouts from BSA Troops 288 and 432 and Girl Scout Troop 80505 will present a short ceremony
Please bring an appropriate candle or lantern to transport the flame safely.
Each year, Wolfgang Kerndler, a representative of Austrian Airlines, brings the Peace Light to the United States. The Catholic Committee for Scouting, Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, hosts a distribution ceremony when the Peace Light arrives in New York City. Typically, the ceremony is open to anyone who can attend and is held at Our Lady of the Skies Chapel in Terminal 4 of John F. Kennedy International Airport. Peace Light North America is dedicated to facilitating the distribution of the Peace Light from Bethlehem throughout the North American continent.
