BE PREPARED
HUNTERDON ARROWHEAD DISTRICT
CUB SCOUT YUKON TRAIL
ROUND VALLEY RECREATION AREA - BEACH & EAST AREAS
To make the Yukon Trail a success and fun for Cub Scouts and enjoyable for parents, it is important to be prepared:
WEATHER & CLOTHING
The Yukon Trail is an outdoor event and we will be outside from approximately 10:00am until 2:30pm. Both Cub Scouts and Parents should be dressed for the weather in layers and prepared for a change of weather.
NO SNEAKERS OR SHOES – Snow Boots or Waterproof Hiking Boots are encouraged.
Remember Hat, Gloves/Mittens, and Scarf.
Snow Pants are great on cold winter days!
Outer layers protecting against the weather of the day if it is wind, snow or rain.
Scouts should all wear their RANK NECKERCHIEFS over their top layer. Neckerchiefs should be tied in a knot. Please do not wear rank slides unless the neckerchief is knotted underneath - they will get lost.
Bring Spare Socks & Shoes to keep in the car. Scouts can have these to change their shoes before heading home to keep your car clean and their feet warm.
PARKING & REGISTRATION
The Yukon Trail will be held in the Beach and East Area of Round Valley Recreation Area. Cub Scout Families should park at the the first Parking Lot at the Beach Area. If this lot fills, additional parking is available at the Main Beach Parking Lot.
Parking is allowed only in designated parking lots within the park. Please do not park alongside the roadways.
Please respect the rules for parking - it will make our event SAFE and will allow us to return to Round Valley in future years.
Please locate Scout Leaders and other Scout Families from your Pack first.
Once all your Scouts have gathered, a Team Leader may register your Team. On-site Registration & Payment is by Unit or Team, NOT Individual. Please discuss with your Pack Leaders in advance how Scout payment is to be made. The Yukon Trail fee is $10/scout. The fee includes a Yukon Trail 2023 patch, which will be given to Adult Team Leaders at registration.
FOOD & DRINK
Bring a Water Bottle
Bring a Lunch (or make plans with your Pack to cook lunch)
Bring whatever snacks you need for the day.
RESTROOMS
There is a Restroom at Round Valley in the East Area. Our Yukon Trail activities will be in both the Beach and East Areas.
It is a short walk along a paved path to get from the Beach Area to the East Area and to the East Area Restroom. Because this walk is near water, scouts should be accompanied by their parent or leader to the East Area.
