The 2026 HAD Klondike will be hosted by Ringoes Troop 65 at Lebanon Township Memorial Park.
Hunterdon Arrowhead District Klondike Derby
January 23-25, 2026
The Klondike Derby is a challenging winter camping event in which patrols participate in competitive activity stations, prepare their meals outdoors, and camp in tents for one or two nights. The purpose of this event is to reinforce winter camping skills, scout skills, and the patrol method.
The Klondike Derby can be a fun and memorable event for the Scouts, provided they stay warm and dry. Be prepared for the worst-case scenario, which would be a cold, driving rain all weekend long. Dressing in layers and a good pair of winter boots is mandatory at this event.
This year's theme is May the Frost Be With You!
Troops are encouraged to deck out their sleds with cardboard, duct tape, paint, and whatever else you can rustle up at the outpost barter station to look like starfighters or bounty-hunter ships! Scouts are encouraged to dress up as galactic soldiers, rebel troops, and good old space ruffians! There will be prizes for best costume and best sled design.
Patrols are limited to a maximum of 8 scouts.
There will be a campfire program on Saturday evening, so come prepared with songs and skits to share!
If your troop has a raised fire pit you would be willing to contribute to the evening campfire please bring it.
If your troop is interested in participating in an Order of the Arrow callout Saturday evening please contact us ahead of time.
