Safe Berks provides a safe haven and an ongoing support system for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Part of that support includes providing an evening meal every day of the week for those victims who are staying at Safe Berks. Once a month, Hack Away at Hunger and Poverty provides a meal for these residents. The total number served was 35-45 people each time.
Hack Away has had volunteers prepare and donate meals to Safe Berks. We have provided wraps and salads, and we celebrated Christmas in July with turkey and ham, along with presents for the kids living there.
Hack Away regularly partners with Exeter HS students in the Food & Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, and Life 101 classes and Anthony's Trattoria to provide a meals. Hack Away has also partnered with Berks Connections/Pretrial Services to sponsor an incredible fried chicken dinner from Beckett’s Chicken and Ribs.
