Safe Berks provides a safe haven and an ongoing support system for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Part of that support includes providing an evening meal every day of the week for those victims who are staying at Safe Berks. Once a month, Hack Away at Hunger and Poverty provides a meal for these residents. The total number served is about 40 people each time.
We are extremely grateful for the support of local schools, businesses, and organizations that regularly help us provide a meal for residents at Safe Berks. Our partners include:
Exeter HS students in the Food & Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, and Life 101 classes
Berks Career and Technology Center culinary arts students
Hack Away has had volunteers prepare and donate meals to Safe Berks. We have provided wraps and salads, and we celebrated Christmas in July with turkey and ham, along with presents for the kids living there.
