Hackaway at Hunger and Poverty has partnered with other organizations to help us achieve our mission of meeting the needs of individuals and families in the areas of fighting hunger and poverty; supporting education, literacy and youth development; and promoting health, wellness & safety. The organizations below have been important partners, and we hope to expand by partnering with even more organizations in the future.
Bill Salvatore, owner of Anthony's Trattoria, a local Italian restaurant, has pledged to donate and prepare meals for our Safe Berks Monthly Meal project twice a year. In 2024, Anthony's prepared the September and December Safe Berks Meals. Going forward, Bill has committed provide at least 2 meals every year.
The Spine and Wellness Center has partnered with Hackaway for the Sept. '24 Chip Away at Cancer tournament which benefitted Thanx Wig Boutique and also the June '23 Golf for Meaghan tournament which helped get a service dog for an Exeter Twp. resident born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Dr. Pat Borja and his staff helped with getting golfers, sponsors, and door prizes.
Thanx Hair Artistry partnered with us for our September Chip Away at Cancer Tournament. Diane Keck and her staff volunteered at the event. They also helped with getting golfers, sponsors, and door prizes. The Thanx Wig Boutique does personal and private wig fittings for men, women and children with cancer or other life-threatening diseases.
Prior to being on Hackaway's Board, Charlie Bross, owner of Swing Evolutions, worked with Hackaway to organize and set-up indoor golf tournaments to raise money for various Hackaway causes. Swing Evolutions continues to partner with Hackaway at Hunger and Poverty.
At certain athletic events, students will run a Miracle Minute where they circulate through spectators and collect cash donations for the local food bank, Preston's Pantry.
Students and staff at Exeter High School regularly organize canned food drives to benefit the Exeter Food Pantry. Students in thFood & Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, and Life 101 classes help prepare a meal for residents of Safe Berks once a semester.
Students and staff at Owatin Elementary School regularly organize canned food drives to benefit the Exeter Food Pantry.
Students at St. Catharine's have organized canned food drives to suppport the Exeter Food pantry.
Residents at Keystone Villa Douglassville regularly package collected personal products so that we can distribute them during give event at the Exeter Food Bank.
