An Authorization to Release Child form should be completed during enrollment. No child will be released to any adult other than those listed without proper notification from an authorized adult. Notification should be provided in writing whenever possible, but a phone call from an authorized person is acceptable when necessary.
If a parent or guardian is believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at pick-up time, an attempt will be made to persuade them to agree to calling an alternate authorized person to pick up the child. As a mandatory reporter of child abuse, if this is not agreed to, 9-1-1 will be called and the potential abuse of a child being transported by someone under the influence will be immediately reported.
Parents should know that, pursuant to Iowa Law, I will not release a child if the person picking up the child does not have an appropriate child-safety seat. I can usually offer parents a loaner seat, but if an appropriately sized seat is not available, a seat will have to be obtained by the parent/guardian before the child will be released. Your child’s safety is important.
