Policy
Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center maintains a file on each child as required by the State of Iowa. Your child’s personal information will be kept in a confidential file and accessible to parents upon request. Emergency information and immunization records may be shared with medical providers in cases of emergency if the parent cannot be reached.
Although Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center is no longer a registered provider with the State of Iowa, Childcare Resource and Referral, or the Department of Human Services, all agency licensing standards are followed. The center is regularly inspected to ensure that we meet or exceed all licensing standards.
It is Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center’s goal to be prepared for daily routines as well as emergencies. It is necessary to have the appropriate paperwork in order to meet this goal. It is important for your child’s safety to have emergency information on hand, and to be able to meet your child’s needs.
All enrollment forms must be completed, submitted, and approved before your child will be allowed to attend Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center. If this expectation is not met upon your child’s first day of attendance, your child will not be allowed to stay.
Procedure
If you are interested in enrolling your child in Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center, you should set up an interview time. During the interview, parents will receive a school tour, review the Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center policies and procedures, and have an opportunity to ask questions.
At the end of the interview, parents will be given a designated time period to make a decision about enrollment. After all interviews are held, the opening(s) will be filled from among the families seeking enrollment based on what is best for Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center. All families will be notified in a timely manner as to whether they are being offered a spot in daycare.
If enrollment is offered and your family wishes to accept, all forms should be completed and a two-week deposit paid. The deposit is non-refundable (except in extreme special circumstances), but will be applied to your child’s last two weeks of care. All enrollment forms and immunization records must be completed and returned before your child begins daycare.
On the first day of attendance, please bring the following items for your child to keep in their designated cubby at Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center:
Two (2) complete changes of clothing (two (2) extra pairs of pants, two (2) extra shirts, two (2) extra pairs of socks, two (2) extra pairs of underwear, one (1) extra pair of gloves, one (1) hat, and one (1) swimming suit, swim diapers as needed) that are appropriate to the season. No exceptions! Daycare can be dirty. Kids get dirty when they play outside, babies have occasional blow-outs, and kids spill food when they’re learning to self-feed and use utensils. It’s very frustrating to go to your child’s cubby to find no extra clothing when they need it.
Any current medications
Any special blanket, Lovey, or pacifier that your child finds comforting.
A list of allergies
Disposable diapers, pull-ups, wipes & ointments, or extra underwear, as appropriate for your child’s age. For toilet learning, the parent/guardian will supply pull-up disposable diapers and extra changes of clothing. Note: potty chair or potty seat will be provided by the provider.
Upon arrival, please remove child's shoes and socks and place them in their assigned cubby. Please label all your child’s belongings as it can be difficult to keep track of what items belong to which child. We do our best to keep track of the children’s belongings throughout the day, but Gummy Bears' Daycare & Learning Center is not responsible for lost items.
