Element 6A. Parent and Community Involvement and Outreach The school executive designs structures and processes which result in parent and community engagement, support, and ownership for the school.
One of the goals for Mariam Boyd Elementary is to increase parent participation and involvement. Ms. Tabron organized and hosted the annual Title I Night to share information Title I.
She created the presentation, compact, parents right to know. She also created a location roster for staff to sign up to assist. She helped teachers find standards aligned math activities to allow families to participate in. She has also helped to plan events including a Spirit Night Fundraiser and a Curriculum Night with a positive number of parents participating. She created and shared Literacy Folders based on UFLI tools that help parents practice sounds and spelling with students at home to increase student achievement.
Element 6B. Federal, State, and District Mandates The school executive designs protocols and processes in order to comply with federal, state, and district mandates. budget processes
During her tenure as the Assistant Principal of D.S. Johnson, Ms. Tabron led the accreditation process. She collaborated with the administrative team and staff to participate in the accreditation process through COGNIA, as required by the District. She worked collectively with the team to assess the school's current rating based on COGNIA standards provided. She led the team to provide justification in each standard with a professionally written narrative for each standard. She also created the schedule for the school COGNIA visit for which the accreditation interview process was held. The school was awarded the COGNIA accreditation in Summer of 2022.
