Greening Denmead is growing quickly, and there’s always room for more people who want to make a difference. Whether you have a specific skill to offer or simply a passion for helping your community and the environment, we’d love to hear from you.

With more people like you, we can do even more for our village, our environment, and our children and grandchildren. Whether you have lots of time or just a little, your contribution will genuinely make a difference.

Our volunteer survey told us something we’re really proud of: people feel Greening Denmead is friendly, supportive, and a great place to meet like‑minded villagers.

If you’d like to get to know us, simply come along to one of our events. No pressure, no commitment — just friendly faces and good conversation.

🌿 There’s a place for everyone

You don’t need be 'green' or have specialist knowledge to join in. Our volunteers bring all kinds of strengths, including:

• Practical hands-on help

• People leadership and project coordination

• Admin, organisation, social media, and behind‑the‑scenes support

• Green‑fingered gardening enthusiasm

• Passion for Zero Waste or Net Zero 

If you’re looking for work experience or confidence‑building opportunities, you’re welcome too. Training is sometimes available through our partner organisations.

And if you only have a small amount of time, that’s absolutely fine — we have plenty of smaller roles that still make a big impact.

🏠 Thermal Imaging Volunteer – Could You Help?

Would you like to do something practical to help people in Denmead save money on their energy bills and keep their homes warmer in winter?

Greening Denmead offers FREE Thermal Imaging to local households. In previous years, our thermal imaging has helped people spot areas where loft insulation needed topping up, windows needed sealing or what improvements could make a real difference. 

We’ve linked up with My Home Made Better, who can provide practical advice and guidance on home improvements.

Home retrofit is one of the key ways homeowners can improve the energy efficiency of their homes, helping to reduce energy waste while making them warmer and more comfortable.

We’re looking for a volunteer to help us promote the service and reach more local households this winter. You don’t need to be a climate expert or have any technical knowledge — we simply need someone who can spare a few hours over the winter to help with some straightforward admin.

🤝 Support and training

Our volunteers benefit from the expertise, training and resources via The Greening Campaign, as well as support from WeCAN / WinACC. Where funding allows, volunteers also have access to training and advice through NCVO and Community First.
