Get involved!
We have joined forces with All Saints Church to create a new project, led by Mike Gaskin (of both Greening Denmead and All Saints) and supported by Katy from the Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust.
Our team of volunteers is helping develop the garden into a welcoming space for both people and wildlife, and to demonstrate what villagers can do for nature in their own gardens.
Meeting Details:
When: Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, from 10:30am to 12:30pm
Where to meet: Heath Room, All Saints Church
Goals:
Short-term:
Improve and maintain the wildlife garden
Share and learn general gardening skills
Add bug hotels and feeders
Long-term:
Clear and build a compost bin using recycled wood
Develop a children's garden space
Create a tranquility/sensory garden space with raised beds and a pond
We’re looking for volunteers, especially those with experience in wildlife or sensory garden development, but all support is welcome.
Come along to a meeting or email us if you have any questions or to join our WhatsApp group. Your involvement will help enrich our community and natural environment.
Is it all church people? No, it is a mix of church and non-church goers, and everyone is very friendly.
Will the wildlife garden prevent use of the church grounds for events? No, we are working closely with the Church and developing existing gardens and other areas which are not currently used for large events such as the Denmead Show.
