The electronic application will be located on the Colorado DECA website and will be submitted before the State Conference. The application will contain a grade verification form, two letters of recommendation, short answer questions, and a visual resume.
For the grade verification, please upload a PDF of the signed form.
Requirements for the two letters of recommendation:
Cannot be written by a DECA advisor
One may be written by a teacher, advisor, or administrator associated with your school
One must be written by someone not associated with your school
These letters can be written by a teacher, employer, mentor, advisor, administrator, coach, or someone who you believe can communicate your commitment, strengths, and abilities as an individual, team member, and leader.
The electronic application will contain several short answer questions that will be available as soon as the application opens (usually early January). These questions are designed to be around 50-100 words each (however, there is no word requirement) and are used for the selection committee to get to know each candidate better. Do your best to answer as creatively and honestly as possible.
Here are some sample questions that may be asked:
Why do you want to be a state DECA officer?
Please describe a few of your most difficult problems you solved and exactly how you solved them.
What did you and your local chapter do for this year's state DECA 10/10/10 campaign?
Tell us how your visual resume is a reflection of yourself. Tell us something about you that is not on your visual resume.
