State officers have many roles and include but are not limited to:

• Help DECA District advisors facilitate district competition

• Planning and preparing for the state conference

• Potentially representing Colorado DECA as a voting delegate at ICDC

• Representing and networking on behalf of Colorado DECA

• Assisting with the 10/10/10 community service initiative

• Managing DECA social media accounts

• And so much more!

As a district officer, the primary responsibility is communicating state initiatives with DECA chapters in their DECA district. As an executive officer, the primary responsibility relates to the association as a whole depending on the specific role. Some district responsibilities include chapter visits, president meetings, and running the district conference. Some executive responsibilities include running the state social media accounts, communicating with newsletters, attending advisory board meetings, and supporting the Officer Team as a whole.

For your two letters of recommendation:

One can be written by anyone but your DECA advisors

One must be written by anyone BUT your advisors or someone from your school

Becoming a State Officer is a lot of work and at times can seem difficult. There is a lot to manage at times. The goal of this website, the timeline, and the other resources provided by State Officer team is to attempt to help relieve and manage as much as stress and work as possible. Make sure to capitalize on opportunities and manage your time effectively! If you do so, becoming a State Officer will become a lot easier.
