Special surprises - one off gifts to thank and acknowledge community fairies
seasonal meals and treats
homecooked meals to those who need a short term boost or practical support
regular meals - weekly or monthly - to brighten lives and/or support low income homes and support at times of emotional or physical crisis.
You can reach this team at sugarplum@goodfairy.org.
Crafty Fairies
Please let us know if you can sew, knit or do other crafts. This team was originally created to source materials, teach skills, make and distribute thousands of masks during the pandemic. Thank you Kathleen and Amy - you're the best.
We continue to call on individuals and groups whose craft work can puff a little pixie dust as we partner with individuals and run special projects.
Groups - Children For Change made painted stones and cards, The Cedars made holiday tree ornaments as fundraising incentives, Deer Park Retirement Community painted ladybug stones. Tell us what your group can offer or tell us you have a group that would like to hear what we need.
Operation Granny Sottile - one of our most celebrated Crafty Fairies makes beautiful knitted goods and fleece baby blankets. If you make something we could give - let us know!
Click here for details on the mask making program.
Email penny@goodfairy.org for more information.
Fridge Fairies
Marin Community Fridges - Good Fairy considers this fantastic initiative to be 'family'. We are eager to help the community in several ways:
we encourage folks to consider hosting a fridge
we encourage fridge awareness and use
we will pick fruit to be donated if you can't
we can pick up your donations
we sometimes place seasonal treats at the fridges
If you need or would like to be a Fridge Fairy email team@goodfairy.org
Green Fingered Fairies
Bring your green thumb to this team as they work together to start, foster and deliver fresh vegetables and more to our community members.

DIY & Handy Fairies
Hello Boys!
Could you build flat pack furniture for a senior or single Mom, fix a wobbly stair rail, tune up a bike, pick up and deliver items for us - in a regular car/SUV/pickup truck.
Ladies are of course more that welcome to participate here but these tend to be jobs men are good at and enjoy doing. And those who help us often say they wanted to volunteer but didn't know what they could do.
For many widows and single Moms there is a huge gap not having a ' man around the place'. They need a fairy son, brother, husband or uncle.
Email team@goodfairy.org
Jaunty Fairies
Could you brighten someone's day by offering them a fun jaunt. A trip to Stinson, a cup of coffee downtown, a spin in a convertible car, a chance to join you for a dip in the pool and lunch at your gym, a drive around The Headlands and an ice cream in Sausalito, an excursion to have their nails done.
Is there a seat at your dinner table for a Sunday Roast or a space in your car when the family is heading off for a picnic at Heart's Desire Beach? Let us know. Even just as a one off - we'll find someone who would love an adventure with a fairy friend or family.
Turn ' I never go anywhere' into a big old smile for someone. So many people don't have access to car...or don't have anyone to play with.
Are you a stay at home parent free midday when the kids are at school?
Once a month, once a week, once a year.. whatever you can offer.
Reading Buddies
Would your child/children like to read with a senior or high schooler via Zoom or on the phone . We can read to them or help them read. And also have a chat and a giggle.
The Fairy network can get your kids' favorite books to their buddies. None of our volunteers are vetted but parents are welcome to interview readers in advance and sit in on calls
Contact team@goodfairy.org to request a buddy or if you'd like to volunteer as a reader.
Fairy Experts
If you can offer a professional or skilled consultancy to someone in our community who is low income and often doesn't have family to turn to please let us know.
In most cases we set expectations at 30 mins of 'fairy time' free consultancy. We are happy to restrict this to a certain number of enquiries a month and you can withdraw this offer at any time.
If you would like to share your contact details please send a note with details of what you can offer and how to get in touch to team@goodfairy.org. and this will be displayed on our Experts list here
Many experts prefer to be included on our database but not offer contact details on this site. We also give you the option to have you call the recipient not vice versa.
Lawyers, medical people, language specialists, cleaning specialists, teachers, subject specialists etc are just wonderful. A HUGE help to point someone in the right direction.
FAIRY prepared
Our helpful links section on disaster/emergency preparedness is there to help fairies be proactive on behalf of both themselves and others to ensure our entire community is as safe and prepared as it can be. Including the most vulnerable people. We also run activities to encourage and facilitate preparedness now and then. email team@goodfairy if you'd like to get involved.
Operation Fluffy Socks
We are the third 'F', when folks don't and friends or family to help ..they need a fairy. We are steadily building relationships with retirement and assisted living facilities to offer a fairy family to residents who don't have family calling/visiting etc.
Someone to drop off a pair of fluffy socks and a bunch of flowers from time to time. And once we get to know a person's story..we often rustle up a little pixie dust and make some magic happen just for them.
We are excited to be currently exploring ways to partner with Marin's incredible non profit Love Is The Answer who was doing this stuff waaay before Good Fairy was created ( we started during the pandemic). Here are their programs .
We also link in with nursing home activity directors to see how we can brighten lives and encourage integration...painting stones, making masks, meeting some new leafy friends.
You Are Not Alone Fairies
Would you like to be partnered with a senior or person with disabilities who would love to receive letters/notecards and or calls now and then?
In some cases folks will write/call back in other cases it is important that the recipient can just enjoy the arrival of the envelope or the ' It's for you' moment without any pressure to reply.
We welcome letter writers and callers from all over the world and love to help folks make a one off connection or find a companion that is just right for them- sometimes linking them proactively with someone who comes from a particular background.
Please email us at volunteers@goodfairy.org if you are interested in this program.
Pompoms
People of Marin supporting Parents of Marin.
A support and resources sharing group for especially single Moms but also single Dads and couples who need practical or emotional support linked to the special stresses and joys of parenting. Support will come from other parents ...and everyone else.
Some parents may welcome a Pompom fairy partner or two who live close to them, others may turn to us for ad hoc tasks like helping with a birthday party or grieving the loss of a pet or whatever. We might also offer a Pompom weekly zoom with a fairy reading a story book each week for the kids while parents can chat in a side zoom room.
This group might also enjoy participating in Good fairy activities such as ladybugs, fluffy socks and sugarplum
Good Fariy Elizabeth Consentino is heading up this group, you can contact her via pompoms@goodfairy.org.
To request Pompom help or to volunteer use our get help and give help forms online.
Please email us at volunteers@goodfairy.org if you are interested in this program.
