We allow the use of verification tags, however, there are specific requirements that must be followed.
Verification tags can be used for tracking purposes only.
We require that all ad tags respond to every ad call. We do not allow “blank” ads on our site – therefore we need an ad response 100% of the time.
We support DV and IAS monitoring tags only. Any other vendor must be approved by our team prior to creative submission.
We do not allow for blocking or shared blocking/monitoring tags as a standard.
We accept DV/IAS wrapped tags or 1x1 tracking tags to append to the creative files.
Verification tags cannot be used on the App HPTO tactic within Globe Own the Day executions, Apple News inventory, or in Globe newsletters.
Verification tags are not recommended for use on pre-roll or outstream video. It is known to cause extra latency within the players, which can lead to potential reporting discrepancies.
As an alternative to blocking tag use, we can apply additional brand safety targeting to most tactics. Please contact your Account Manager to discuss options.
Billing/Delivery
We bill on actual delivery based on our 1st party numbers.
We will be tracking delivery and invoicing based on all ad calls on our side regardless of whether the impressions fall outside of your verification parameters.
Geo-targeting
We use GAM geo-targeting based on IP address – therefore, there should be very minimal geo discrepancies.
All inventory running on our Alliance Partner sites is Canada only.
Please ensure we are clear on your geo-targeting requirements to avoid any unwanted geo-locations.
Bot Traffic/Fraud
GAM complies to IAB standards when it comes to fraud traffic – any of these impressions/clicks will be filtered out of all delivery and reporting
Brand Safety
GlobeMedia sites are Brand safe environments.
We are a news-based site – so there is a likelihood that we may have some ad impressions that will appear on content that may be deemed inappropriate based on your BrandSafe Parameters due to words used or topic
Please feel confident that we will not be serving any of your ad impressions outside of our BRAND SAFE Globe Media properties
We also utilize a brand safety key that is applied to all impression-based display and outstream products. This key will exclude all content we have deemed unsafe for brands.
If additional brand safety exclusions are required, please contact your Account Manager at least 5 business days in advance of launch to avoid delays.
Use of Blocking Tags - Pre-Approval Required
If blocking tags are a mandatory requirement for your campaign, please contact your Account Manager before submitting creative to request approval.
Any approval to use blocking tags is made on a campaign-to-campaign basis. We cannot provide a blanket approval per advertiser.
The full list of blocks must be supplied to our team 5 business days in advance of campaign launch.
There are specific set up requirements for blocking tags to run on our sites, so we must be made aware in advance. If not, this will result in delays in launching the campaign.
Blocking tags cannot be approved for use on:
Globe Own the Day takeovers
Globe App inventory
Globe newsletter ads
Apple News
CNN
Forbes
The Guardian’s display sponsorship executions
The Guardian's video inventory
Hearst’s Youtube inventory.
If use of blocking tags is approved, these above sites or tactics may need to be removed from the campaign.
