Important Notes:

• These specs are for pre-roll video booked directly with ESPN. If running video as part of a Globe Alliance channel product, refer to the pre-roll specs at the top of the page.

• If providing VAST tags:

  • The VAST response should include two MP4's - one low-resolution, and one high. The higher resolution MP4 should be between 2000-5000 kbps

  • At least one video creative 1,500kbps or less is required to serve to mobile web and app

  • RTMP protocols are not supported and must be removed from the VAST tag

  • VAST response may include multiple MP4 files to support SD & HD formats

  • VPAID is not supported

  • Skippable video ads are not accepted 

• Video must be submitted without leaders such as slates, countdowns, etc.

Please follow these specifications when including a video element within your display creative design/supplying a video to be used in a creative build:

• AutoPlay within unit: Max duration = 15 seconds
  
  

• Click to play within unit: Max duration = 30 seconds
  
  

• File: .MP4 (H.264 codec), 720p or 1080p, 16:9 aspect ratio

  • If providing file for a vertical video interscroller build, please supply in 9:16 aspect ratio; max. 15s.
    
    

• Max File Size:  

  • 1.1MB when served through client-hosted third party tags/HTML5 zip files 

    • • • Video must be hosted in subload. 1.1MB limit is inclusive of all elements in subload.

    • 30MB if providing to Globe Creative Studio for a creative build

      • • File will be optimized during the creative build as required.

Important Notes:

• These are the specs for video files used within a display ad's design. This is not a standalone ad unit. Please refer back to the applicable display ad for its full spec details.

• Video controls must be visible upon hover. No hover-to-play video allowed.

• Creatives must include a clickable replay button.

• HTML5 zip packages with in-banner video can be supplied but are not recommended. Use of video typically puts the creative over our max KB specs. 

  • If supplying HTML5 with in-banner video, the mp4 should be externally hosted in a secure location AND polite load (subload) must be enabled.
