OAS is an acronym for the Overseas Academic Study Program. This GIS-original program offers four partner schools in the US, the UK, Canada, and New Zealand to study in the regular faculties from sophomore to junior year for 4-10 months. It is not the same regular study abroad that many people think of, but rather, this is the study abroad program which enables you to cultivate your sense of cross-cultural understanding as a global citizen.
Unlike the study abroad programs (SA) offered by other faculties, students can take classes with local students. In addition, while the university's exchange program, "派遣留学," is highly competitive, OAS allows students to study abroad if they wish, and it is also possible to study abroad and do both.
