Code of Conduct
GFTE is a volunteer forum founded by Dr. Munir Moosa that serves as a sacred community for teachers, educators, parents, and individuals from over 75 countries. Our policies are transparent, evidence-based, logical, balanced, and democratic, revolving around the SELF-SERVICE/OWNERSHIP mechanism. We expect members to play a conscious role and follow our policies with patience and dignity.
I. Preamble
GFTE membership is underpinned by the following core values to which all members subscribe: Human Rights Values, Equity, Justice, Inclusion, Collaboration and Partnership.
GFTE is comprised of institutional and individual members. For simplicity, this code refers to all institutional and individual members as ‘members’. The membership remains free but not for all, subject to the approval of the competent authority. Members are not entitled to use our logo or name for any personal activity. Legal action will be taken, if case we anyone misusing the authority.
In keeping with our mission, vision and core values, the goal of this Code is to provide ethical guidelines for members to follow and against which they can assess their own performance. However, the Code does not prescribe how members should act in all situations. Moreover, it is understood that not all members engage in all of the areas or activities of international education addressed in this Code.
Members accept and agree to abide by this Code by virtue of their membership in GFTE. Members shall hold responsibility for individuals who act for or represent them in international education endeavors. Those signing the Code on behalf of the member shall bring the existence and content of the Code to the attention of their representatives involved in international education, who shall uphold this Code at all times.
II. Professionals Engaged in International education
GFTE members who are international education and academic staff must ensure that they:
Treat all individuals equally, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, political opinion, immigration status, or disability.
Accurately represent their expertise.
Clearly differentiate between their personal opinions and those of GFTE, their institution, and other organizations when making public statements.
III. Cross-Border Projects, Programs, Campuses
GFTE members involved in cross-border activities must:
Ensure that their activities serve the best interests of the host community and country.
Exercise due diligence in assessing the legal standing of their cross-border activities.
Establish policies and practices that ensure quality standards are understood and met by all parties involved.
Ensure their cross-border activities fulfill GFTE's commitments under our Code of Ethical Practice.
