King Ludwig
Day 9
After a very memorable visit in Munich, we boarded our bus and headed towards Salzburg. However, on the way we had a planned visit to Neuschwanstein Castle. This was the home to King Ludwig II, aka "Mad King Ludwig." The castle is a marvel to see. The castle sitting high on a hill took 17 years to build, but sadly Ludwig lived there for only 172 days. He was deemed unfit to rule, and after being removed, was found mysteriously dead in a lake.
Hmmm..... an unsolved mystery!
After the castle tour, we had a great picnic lunch by the lake, enjoying the view, and anticipating our next stop. Salzburg.
Allison's Aha! Always have confortable sturdy walking shoes. I try to have a pair of waterproof shoes along on trips too!
