Days 7, 8
After saying farewell to Switzerland, we were on the way back to Germany, this time to Munich. Not long after arriving, the group had dinner at a local beer garden, where we sampled the local brew. I prefer a good wine over beer, but I do have to say the beer we were served was quite good! The next morning was spent on a walking tour with an awesome local guide who provided an excellent history of Bavarian facts, including the unpleasant, but must know history of Nazism. The rest of the day we were free to site see on our own. Scott and I along with another in our group toured the Nazi Documentation Center and the English Garden. Marienplatz (Mary's Square), was also a nice place to walk, people watch, and hear the glockenspiel chime. There is not a shortage of sites to see in Munich from museums, beer halls, an also shopping. If we visit again, Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial will be a must see for us. Munich was great, and if you are there in October, take in the October Fest , whose origins go back to the celebration of King Ludwig's wedding. There will be a bit more about him later.
