1) Clicking on the assignment, you can see how many have handed it in and how many it was assigned to. Click "View assignment".
2) This opens the "Student work" page. This shows you who has handed in work and gives you links to open their work.
The simplest way to give a mark, is to open and review their work, then to add a mark on the left-hand side of the Student work page. Then click "Return".
3) However, normally you will want to give the student feedback. Click on the student's work.
4) This opens the Google Doc and gives you various extra options.
5) On the right-hand side you can add a mark (if you have set a mark for the assignment).
6) You can write feedback on their document. These appear in the form of suggestions. On the right-hand side, these changes will appear as boxes where you will need to tick in order to add them.
7) The changes are then added.
8) The final step is to return the document. Click the blue Return button.
9) You will asked to confirm that you want to return the work.
On the Student's work page, you will see which assignments have been marked.
The student will receive an email notification, showing their mark and with a link to open the assignment.
On the student's Classwork page, they will see that the assignment is now shown as 'Marked'.
Opening the assignment, they will see the mark, plus any comments left by the teacher. It also gives them the opportunity to resubmit the assignment.
While you're in one document, it's possible to navigate to other student's work within the same assignment. Under the title of the document, click the studetn's name and a drop-down menu will appear showing you all the other students that have submitted work. Just click on their name to open their work.
If you do mark multiple submissions in one go, you can return all the work at the same time, by clicking on the little triangle next to the Return button and then select the option to "Return multiple submissions".
