1) On the Classwork page, click "Create" and then "Assignment".
2) Fill in the title and any instructions.
3) Here we're going to add points for the activity, a mark out of 10. This is optional, but we're going to use this in a future section, where we'll look at marking assignments.
4) Now, we need to add the document. At the bottom you will see a drop down menu (as we saw in Adding materials). In this example, we're going to add a Google Doc, which is on our Drive. Click the Google Drive icon.
5) Find the document you want (as we saw in Adding materials). Here, as I've just looked at the Google Doc for the activity it appears in my Recent tab.
6) This will add the document to the assignment.
7) A Google Doc can be shared in 3 different ways.
1-Sharing the original document, allowing the students to only be able to view it;
2-Sharing the original document, allowing the students to be able to edit it;
3-Automatically making a copy for each student, allowing them to edit the copy
As I want the student to type in there answers on their copy of the document, I'm going to select the last option.
8) Click "Assign" to assign the assignment.
This will add the assignment to the Classwork page.
Clicking on the assignment will open it, allowing you to see how many have handed it in and how many it is assigned to.
We'll look at marking an assignment on the Viewing, marking & returning an assignment page.
