Entrance Requirements
High School Seniors or Graduates:
High school seniors, and high school graduates who have not yet attended college, typically apply for Fall admission by the firm June 1 deadline. If not accepted for Fall, prospective Scholars may re-apply for Spring by the November 15 deadline. Note that we no longer have guests, though anyone is welcome to attend meetings and events when there is room.
Minimum of a 3.25 cumulative GPA (unweighted).
Successful completion of college preparatory coursework.
The application and student grade report form can be found in the "Application" section of the website.
Students Currently at GCC and/or Other Colleges or Universities:
Applications will open in the prior semester for Fall (due June 1) and Spring (due November 15).
Must have 2 or more semesters remaining at GCC before transfer, noting that most Scholars are in the program for 2 years, some longer.
Must have maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA for all college coursework.
Supporting Documents Required for all Applicants:
High school transcripts and also college transcripts (if any colleges have been attended previously or if currently enrolled). Unofficial transcripts are fine. A screenshot of your latest GCC Course History, plus your current GPA from the latest reported term you completed, are fine.
Student Grade Reports, one for every current class, must be filled out by your instructors for the current semester in progress (download the form, which is available in the application). If needed, in borderline cases, your application will be put on hold for final semester grades. You may upload the reports on the application, or instructors may elect to send the reports directly to scholars@glendale.edu if they prefer. If you have completed the current semester by the time you submit the application, the grade reports are not needed and transcripts should be included to cover all completed work, again showing your grades and GPA. For high school transcripts, your unweighted GPA is used.
Application Essays, in which you describe your reasons for applying to Scholars and how you will contribute to the program, showing awareness of the program's purposes, policies, and practices, rather than repeating accomplishments already listed.
Entrance Interviews
All Scholars Program applicants who have submitted complete applications with supporting documents, and who meet Scholars eligibility criteria, will participate in an Entrance Interview, which is a factor in the admissions decision. Information about signing up for the Entrance Interview will be emailed to your GCC email if activated, or the email provided on the application.
