FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When are the application deadlines?

For Spring admission: November 15

For Fall admission: June 1 firm deadline (priority registration will take effect in the following term).

The application is to be submitted online so that everything comes together. If there are problems, such as with uploading materials, you may email it to scholars@glendale.edu. Instructors may email Grade Reports directly to scholars@glendale.edu if they prefer.

NOTE: You will be notified of your admission status 6-8 weeks after the applicable deadline; it may take longer. Contact Dr. Harnett, or the Scholars Program Administrative Assistant, at scholars@glendale.edu, if you have further questions.

What is a Guest Scholar?

A Guest Scholar is an individual who wants to see what the program is like before committing to the program itself. This entails attending Scholars events and GA's, including taking an honors course. If you choose to do so, contact Dr. Harnett or the Scholars Program Assistant at scholars@glendale.edu, with your GCC Student ID number, and you will be added to the email list so that you may be informed about Scholars meetings and events. Please remember to use your GCC student email for all college correspondence in order to comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.

How much of a time commitment does Scholars typically involve?

Scholars students are involved in committee meetings, subcommittee meetings and work, General Assemblies, and Scholars events and activities, with a very rough average of about 21 hours each semester. The most dedicated Scholars put in more time than that, and the general approach to the program involves an emphasis on the quality and depth of each Scholar's involvement, rather than merely reaching minimum requirements.
