Get ready to join in on the fun as we gear up for our highly-anticipated Homecoming festivities! As the band director, I couldn't be more excited about the upcoming events. We have the honor of marching in the Homecoming parade, showcasing our talent and school spirit to the community. But that's not all – before the big game, our high school band will be delivering an energetic pre-game performance that will set the tone for an unforgettable evening. I encourage all band members to bring their enthusiasm and musical prowess as we come together to celebrate and make this Homecoming a truly memorable one!

We have a crucial rehearsal scheduled for Tuesday, beginning promptly at 6pm in the high school band room. This practice is mandatory for all students who is participating in the upcoming performance. Please make sure to bring your instruments; percussionists will find their drums already set up in the band room. Our agenda will start with the high school band, followed by dedicated practice time for the upcoming parade. This is a golden opportunity to tighten our ensemble sound and make meaningful progress, so attendance is not optional. Parents, kindly note that you can pick up your students at 8:30pm at the front of the high school.
The parade will start at Brendle Elementary. We are asking parents to drop the students off at the high school band room, and we will walk them over to Brendle for the parade line-up.
I'll make arrangements to transport the marching drums, bari sax and tubas to the HS Band Room. Those students will find them located in the HS Band Room, where they can bring them to the parade starting location. Drumline: Bring your sticks with you.
IMPORTANT: There will be NO place to store instrument cases during the parade. Please leave all instrument cases in your car, or we will leave them at the high school band practice field, when we walk to the start of the parade at Brendle.
Jeans or black pants and the RED GB BAND POLO SHIRT. Please wear comfortable shoes (tennis shoes are fine)! Feel free to layer under the shirts if the weather is cool. DO NOT embellish the "uniform" with other colors. We want you to look "uniform". No shorts please!
The combined middle school marching band will end the parade at the High School. We will walk the students to the band practice field where they will get water, have a short break, and get ready for their pre-game performance.
Pre-Game will have the combined HS Band with the combined MS bands. The performance will start around 6:30pm, and the students will be finished by 7:00pm. If parents want to watch the Pre-Game show, they will have to purchase a ticket into the game.
When the performance is finished, the students will have the following options:
The MS Band Students have been invited to stay at the game and sit in the stands ALONGSIDE the High School Marching Band! This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to see what it is like to be in the GBHS Marching Band.
Option #1 - When the Pre-Game Show is over, kids are also allowed to stay and enjoy the game. Students will need to:
Manage your instrument. (Take it back to HS Band Room or to your car)
Make sure you have connected with parents for a pick-up time and location.
Option #2 - Go home after the performance. Communicate with family where you will meet them when you are finished after 7:00pm. We recommend the flag poles at EHS. (HS Main Entrance.)
PLEASE NOTE: AFTER OUR PREGAME PERFORMANCE AND STUDENTS ARE DISMISSED, THE BAND DIRECTORS ARE NO LONGER SUPERVISED BY THE DIRECTORS.
Percussionists, bari sax and tuba players, make sure to return your instruments to the HS Band Room, so it can be picked-up and returned to EMS.
After the Pre-Game Show, the performers are finished and students are dismissed. MS students are free to stay or go, but are NO LONGER SUPERVISED BY THE MS BAND DIRECTORS.
We are looking for 1-2 band parents to walk alongside the band in the parade! It's rarely needed, but if a kid feels ill and needs assistance, we are going to need extra helpers. Please send an email if you can help. Thank you! chutchis@gbcs.org
