Fallout is arguably my first love in gaming... ever since me and a pal or two picked up Fallout 1 and 2 in a weird folding box (that I still have!) from the bargain bin when I was probably 15! We spooled up the CD drive left the vault... and chose to go west.
We were promptly sliced in half by a Super Mutant wielding a Laser Gatling.
The wasteland is home to innumerable mutated species... some roughly equivalent to their original pre-war counterparts... others mutated beyond recognition by the Forced Evolutionary Virus!
Some unique lore and background has been written for some of my more colorful additions to my Fallout collection.
The remnants of America are not only populated by strange creatures and mutants, but also even stranger people and robots!
Here is a review of some of the more unique characters you might run into.
My personal vision of where and what the Fallout universe should become next... and my general setting for my campaigns/games.
In Fallout we are constantly reminded that "war... war never changes", but unfortunately the game developers of late might as well have been saying, "This game... this game never changes". It's time to evolve... it's time to move forward.
Madcap engineers and mercenaries, the Gearhead Gang enjoys bringing an eclectic mix of high tech and low morals to any encounter. Jet-packs, Gamma Cannons, and the use of Robots gives them a distinct edge in battle and even the Brotherhood of Steel has had to give them their due.
Since the chaos of the Great War was unleashed in 2077 humanity has endured, some by clinging to civilization's tenets, and others, by eschewing them entirely. For over two centuries a dizzying array of human barbarism has emerged from technologically obsessed zealots to cannibalistic sadists, to simple thieves and cutthroats.
Perhaps the best way to explain why the United States of 2077 perished in atomic fire is to simply review the vaults they left behind... sadistic experimental time capsules that put greed for power above their responsibility to the future.
Even today, there are still unexplored vaults that have remained dormant for over two hundred years...
The Greencoat Militia or simple "Greencoats" are a volunteer force dedicated to the defense of any peaceful community that contributes to them within their sphere of influence. Whilst their equipment is often derided as "basic" compared to other outfits, they're training, logistics, and numerical superiority have made them a force to be reckoned with.
The Nightkin are elite and unusually intelligent, stealthy, and vicious Super Mutants, who originally served as the elite of elite within the Master's Army.
Today they are rarely encountered and many are suffering from over exposure to Stealth-Boy technology, rendering them insane. There are select groups of Nightkin still operating intelligently and it has been theorized that these extremely dangerous groups may have developed an immunity to the Stealth-Boy side effects.
Perhaps the most iconic faction of Fallout, the Brotherhood have continually evolved (some would say devolved) in both their visuals and their tone.
As an aside... I magnetized my Power Armored soldiers heads and arms! Woot!
No table is complete without terrain! I always try to get the most out of any bits and toys that have accumulated in my various bins and boxes! Fallout Wasteland Warfare has really helped me free up some space!
