Tutorial: Novgorod Class

A precursor to the Kiev class Destroyer, the Novgorod has similar capabilities and is slightly cheaper to produce, but requiring a greater crew compliment.

The Kiev is constructed from various spare Cruiser and Frigate bits and is a sturdy, heavyset model that can serve as a Kiev Class Destroyer, or a Berlin Class Cruiser as desired. Learn how to build one here!

Here you can see the various parts you will need. Specifically, two sets of light cruiser wings, one set of cruiser wings, two strike carrier spines and one frigate spine, and finally, a burn-through laser assembly.

To create the central spine, assemble your burn-through laser and attach to the frigate spine like so.

You'll need to clip the strike carrier spines like so. These are later placed as additional engines between the cruiser wings.

Take one set of light cruiser wings, and cut off this rounded rear section. If you have a better piece of armor to use, consider using it instead of this. The final effect isn't bad, but it's hard to be perfectly symmetrical with this cut, and using additional light cruiser wings is costly in spare parts.

Take a cruiser wings and attach a light cruiser wing like so.

Here we see the wing assembly from the other side. Once both sets are created, they'll be attached to your frigate/burn-through spine.

Add your extra frigate engines into the gap between wings. It should be a nice snug fit. The top wing pictured here is finished and snug.

Attach one wing to the side, then shave and add a peg. Then add the other side wing and your main hull is complete.

Add a strike carrier spine half to the bottom middle, attaching to the burn through laser and bracing your peg.

Feel free to add some sensors to the bottom... I like the space station kit observatory especially.

Take your shortened light cruiser wing, and shave the bottom at this angle. This is kind of a vague "gotta eye ball" it moment.

Attach the light wing... you can see how it frames your little side engines from the frigate spine, and try to angle it so it looks and aligns nicely with the backside.

Another look at the engine assemblage.

Add some standard cruiser wing turrets... magnetize if you like!

Congratulations you're done! Prime and paint your new Novgorod class Destroyer! Personally I recommend taking two of these ships with a Moscow as heavy and slow hammer to pulverize your enemies with on weapons free!
