We used a random wheel to get a team name and team captain, we ended up as team vertiseas and Connor as a project manager
I made the board game back as one of the first things, Luke made the human and alien silhouettes for the back as its a prototype we used some random images to trace over for the silhouettes although if we did it for publishing then we would use our own or royalty free images image banks.
The front of the board was made by Connor i sent him my backround for the box and we used that for the front then he added the name alien extraction to the front.
we made a Trello to gather everyone's ideas and efforts into one place, after some conversations in the team the Taye and Conner came up with the core idea for the game witch was later altered by Conner which in my opinion the game started to go down hill as he wanted it to be like monopoly and used his final say as project manager to make it happen.
My idea of player cards was this it allowed you to put points into aspects allowing a wider variety of gameplay similar to DnD like connor wanted as a mix of DnD and monopoly, the other section was for items and util that you wanted to save so everyone had a chance to get the cards. but connor decided we keep the cards.
Connor decided that we didnt need to do that and that it would be like this. this made it so that you needed to keep shield cards as an item and not add it onto your shield count with a whiteboard pen, which i disagree with
All the original characters where made by me and where then used on the info pieces, where you put the health and name of your character. the character piece you recieve will determine the team that your on, all aliens are on a team and all the humans are you roll the 20 sided dice to decide who is going to take their turn first and how far you move.
the backround of the board was made by Taye in A3 he also made the card spaces in the middle so there is a place to put the, along with all the original squares that were white which i later coloured coded with each of the item cards and more. Connor wanted to change the board so that some spaces had things like "if roll a 15 go to next fate card pick up" but we didnt have the time remaining to fully design an indepth board with all these details and he didnt want to do it himself so we setled for this.
Luke did all the silhouettes for the guns and did all the ammo graphics which where very time consuming tasks so this took the majority of his time. all these cards needed an item back all of these were later printed out, cut out, glued and laminated together by me and taye aswell as all the utility and character cards (first and last versions).
first of we played team fun factories board game witch most memorably their board was made out of wood. they made a territory management game where you compete to be the last one remaining, they use characters from anime as character pieces. you get a healer, tank and damage card that you can pick out. you then chose a special territory space to start at and then expand and eventually battle other players however we ran out of time around this point and half of our players had already died to chance cards around the map.
the aim of the game is to capture as much of the map as possible as gaining other areas give you unique powers and some chance cards that can allow you to use these multiple times.
my favorite thing was the powers and chance cards, however my least favorite thing was the 336 player tokens that were given to the players as these are hard to be organised and take a lot of setting up time.
over all i gave it 3 and a half stars as it was a good game but it was about to end really fast due too there being 2 you die cards in the chance deck.
The average review for our game was 3.3 stars, most of the favorite things had something to do with the cards for example the item cards being weapons was somebody's favorite
