we did some life drawing of each other in class to practice for next Thursday when a model is coming to the college and we will be life drawing them. unfortunately after the Thursday had passed i lost my life drawings before i could take a picture of them and this made it so that i haven't documented it onto my blog this will be something to remember later on as i will take photos as soon as i finish so that even if i do lose the work i have the evidence already.
born 1987 Olly moss is a graphic designer best known for his works on the star wars posters as well as his harry potter posters that helped build a reputation along with his site displaying all of moss' work.
Olly moss usually makes his style of posters by having an image inside of an image for example the fire watch poster has a shield with a watch tower in a forest inside of it, this creates a cool effect when you look at it as there are two images in one; On the poster there are also some words and phrases around that hint at the games theme. When you combine both the images it could stand for defend the forest as that is the job of the main character.
I originally was going to use a top view of a map in valorant for the poster, however when i put it into Photoshop it was too low quality and so i decided to find a new image and i ended up liking the poster i made in the end the most out of them all.
I used the first image i chose for the fortnite poster because i had a cool idea for it however i later realized it was a really low resolution image and it made the final poster really pixalated. if i did this poster again id find a higher quality image to base it off.
Originally i was going to use the first image however it was very bland with not much color and i couldn't get it to work with any compositions very well and so i decided to take another look for images and found a new one it made it way more colorful and more interesting however it didn't fit the outline of the character i chose.
i made all the posters in Photoshop using the selection tool to delete the backgrounds while my characters where on half opacity so i could see through them this was more difficult when the characters and background were both similar colors
Valorant - using one of the characters and a one of a maps spawn i created my version of the Olly moss poster for Valorant, i also imported the Valorant font so that i could put down some text like there is in the firewatch poster that i have previously looked at.
Fortnite - during the Fortnite poster i decided to keep most the background in and just have the silhouette over part of the map while i also added text to the top left corner in the fortnite font that i got off dafont
borderlands 3 - while making the borderlands poster i struggled to pick a character and environment as when i found a good environment it was a bad angle and this poster turned out to be my least favorite out of them all.
Over all i liked all three of my posters to an extent however in all 3 of them there are areas of improvement that i can notice, so if i had more time i would have improved these posters by;
Valorant - i disliked the placement and look of the text on the poster and think it may be improved if i moved it slightly however i didn't have the time to perfect every poster while having to make 2 more and 4 other deadlines due.
Fortnite - the main issue i have with this poster is the resolution, i really liked the composition of this image so i used it in my poster however i didn't realize at the time but it was a really low res picture making the final thing really pixelated i would also add more white triangles shooting off the silhouette.
Borderlands - this was my least favorite poster out of the three and there are many things i would change but some of the main ones would be to change the gradient to a different one that compliments the image better.
